About

Lotte and Tilly sticking their heads out of a big pile of costumes

DragonBird Theatre is an early years theatre production company based in Bristol, UK.

We have been running early years theatre, song and play sessions for little ones and their grown ups in the South West UK for over ten years. We use vibrant sets, props and different performance styles to create exciting worlds - engaging imaginations in parents and children alike in a setting where they can comfortably and confidently play together.

  • What can I expect from a DragonBird Theatre show?
Expect fifty minutes of interacting with unique characters, sets and props, getting our bodies moving, singing some folky songs (with a few easy harmonies) and a short meditative rest before we finish. Our sessions are gentle – there are plenty of opportunities to sit for some or all of the hour or take some quiet time. Get in touch with us if you have any other questions about the sessions or accommodations you might need.
  • Are your shows appropriate for a six month old? Four year old? Ninety two year old?
Our shows are for those aged two months old to toothless! Over the last decade that we've been performing we've welcomed audiences of all ages, and are a particular hit with grandparents.
  • How many tickets do I need to buy?
You will need a ticket for each child and a ticket for each adult attending. Baby siblings under 3 months old don't need a ticket.
  • Can DragonBird Theatre come to my house/school/office/favourite park?
We love bringing our live sessions to lots of different settings including nurseries, schools, childminding groups, festivals, specialist schools and more. You can find out more and get in touch about booking DragonBird on the Bookings page of our website.
  • Are the sessions/venues accessible?
We do our best to select our venues with accessibility in mind, and always put relevant details on our website i.e. stairs etc. If you have any questions about the accessibility of our sessions please contact us below.
  • Will you add any other new days/dates or venues?
We coordinate our venues and timetabling for our public shows one term ahead. Our days of the week at each venue vary term-to-term and we try to cover as many different days as we can. Our mailing list subscribers are the first to know about our new dates and any new venues, so sign up if you want to grab tickets before they sell out.
  • I won a raffle ticket at my last session! How do I use it?
If you were lucky enough to win one of our ticket raffles, theres no need to pre-book - just turn up at any session within six months of the date on your voucher at the same venue where you won it. If you need more tickets in addition to the two you won, you can book those online.
