DragonBird Theatre FAQ
What is DragonBird at Home/at School?
After almost a decade of performing our shows to little ones and their adults across the South West UK, we decided to bring the magic of theatre and play to the homes of our audiences with an online streaming service.
You can enjoy DragonBird's online shows through our monthly subscription or on demand:
On Demand: Purchase one (or several) shows on demand for permanent streaming access to it on our website.
Monthly subscription: Access to all current DragonBird shows and Theatreplays for as long as you are subscribed.
How does the monthly subscription work?
Just like other streaming services, the DragonBird at Home and at School monthly subscriptions give you access to a catalogue of our shows and Theatreplays (and crafts for At School). When you purchase a subscription you will be required to set up a username and password. Click 'Watch' at the top of any page on the DragonBird website and select your subscription, enter your username and password and start watching.
How does on-demand work?
Purchasing a show on-demand gives you permanent streaming access to it on our website. Add a show to your cart and checkout, and you will be emailed a ticket with a link and password. Click 'Watch' at the top of any page on the DragonBird website and select 'On Demand', click the show you purchased, enter the password on your ticket and start streaming.
While our goal is keep our on-demand shows available to you forever, 2020 has taught us to always be prepared for unusual events! Rest assured that we will always employ our best efforts to bring you a way to stream the shows that you have purchased and love.
What is Theatreplay?
Theatreplay is a term we coined to describe our guided Early Years play sessions that use dramatic and theatrical devices. Using role play, music, song, props and costume, Theatreplay is a fun way for small children to explore and discover current, new or imagined environments. Exploring real or fantasy life situations through Theatreplay, children build emotional intelligence, develop communication and problem solving skills, and have opportunities to spark their own innovation and creativity.
How do I watch on my TV?
You can watch the DragonBird at Home shows on a smart TV or any TV with a smart device (like Chromecast and Amazon Fire) or game console connected. You may have to hover over the DragonBird video and select 'watch on Youtube' to see the option to connect to your device.
Are your shows closed captioned/subtitled?
Yes! Currently there are closed captions available for the shows and Theatreplays for Pyjama Island, The Ladybird Detective Agency and A Chrismouse Adventure (available December only). We aim to have closed captions on all of our shows very soon. You can find out more about the benefits of using closed captions and subtitles with your child at turnonthesubtitles.org.
Can I gift DragonBird at Home?
You can purchase any on demand DragonBird at Home show as a gift! Just select the gift option for the show you would like to buy. Once you've checked out, you'll receive a PDF gift ticket to your email address with a link and password to access the show. You can send this PDF gift ticket via email, instant messaging, or get retro and print it out for the lucky recipient! Are you returning to live shows/after school clubs?
During this past year, like so many businesses, a lot has changed for DragonBird Theatre. We are pleased to be back bringing you a new adventure for 2022 in the form of DragonBird Song, a 30-minute live session that explores exciting and tactile worlds through immersive theatrical play and song for children aged 0-5.
DragonBird Song sessions will be running regularly from the 16th March at The Greenbank, Easton, Bristol. Find out more here.
