We play in schools too!
Core to our ethos is delivering a range of performances and interactive sessions that can engage and inspire all ages. As well as Early Years with parents and carers, DragonBird Theatre's programme of shows and interactive sessions are apposite for children at pre-schools and primary schools.
"Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn." O. Fred Donaldson
Your school or pre-school can choose a session from our portfolio or we can create a taylor made session to suit your school's current scheme of work.
"Children develop a love of reading because practitioners share... stories with them. In their lively performance of ‘The Night Before Christmas’, a theatre group, DragonBird Theatre, effectively modelled the use of rhyming words and extended the children’s vocabulary by using a rich range of different words...
Story books are used well to promote the children's language skills. The monthly visits from DragonBird Theatre provide exciting and engaging opportunities for the children to develop their listening skills and join in with action songs".
Little Hayes and Hillfields Early Years and Family Centre OFSTED Report, January 2017
"A wonderfully engaging experience for the whole class. The children loved the simple yet magical performance and the whole session flowed beautifully. The choice of games and activities were full of joy, colour, textures and plenty of physical involvement…even the initially reluctant children, were captured. Rather than the children being passive spectators they got to fully take part. I have seen a lot of theatre for children and this was just right. Thank you."
Reception Teacher, Sea Mills Primary School, February 2017.
“I just wanted to thank you again for the fantastic morning you gave our Pre-school children and can quite safely say I have never seen them all so engrossed at one time. The children absolutely loved your workshop and have been talking about it ever since. Parents have fed back some lovely comments of their children telling them some lovely stories about your visit. We will definitely be having you back.” Sophie, Mama Bears Nursery, May 2016
"The children thoroughly enjoyed your sessions. We definitely want you back next term"
Teacher, Sefton Park School.
"DragonBird Theatre visited our school during storytelling week and really was the highlight of the children’s week! From the moment the children entered the room they were engaged in the fun and imaginative performance. Lotte and Tilly were fantastic at managing the children’s participation in the story telling which involved lots of singing, roleplaying and dressing up. As a teacher I felt inspired by their creative approach to storytelling and can’t wait to have them back again!"
Sarah, Year 2 Teacher, Whitehall Primary.
"We totally loved your visit, loved the way you delivered it and made it fun but still maintained a gentle manner throughout. One of my staff was surprised by how much she'd enjoyed it herself!
One mum told me that her daughter hadn't stopped talking about it and is normally reluctant to share any information about her time at nursery!
All the parents have been very impressed that we were able to offer it and look forward to you returning again."
Sarah, Bishopston Beanstalks Preschool.
"Thank you so much bringing the Wild Things alive! We and the children enjoyed the magical experience- even those in the book corner were mesmerised.
The props were brilliant especially the boat and the jungle- certainly food for thoughts of how scrap store resource can be used!"
Dhao, Magic Dragon Preschool.
"DragonBird Theatre were amazing. The children at our setting were absolutely entranced and loved the hands on interactive nature of the session. It was perfectly pitched for the ages of our children (adults included!)."
Dawn, Parkway Parent & Child Project Preschool.
